I've been visiting Deer Isle during the summer for +/- 40 years and as of last year decided to make this island my year round home. My daughter and I relocated from Palo Alto, California after living there for 15 years. I am originally from Philadelphia and growing up, my sister and I went to overnight camp in New Hampshire and then we'd join our parents for a family vacation on Deer Isle. We loved exploring the rocky beaches, island picnics, visiting galleries, taste testing at Nervous Nellies, the end of session auction at Haystack and the unexpected things that would pop up from year to year- the comic book shop was a favorite! There's as much or as little to do in Maine as you want to.
